Statement of Faith
1. We believe that the Old and New Testament are inerrant as originally given; they were verbally inspired by God, and are complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men. They constitute the divine and only rule for the Christian faith and practice. (Joshua 1:8; John 20:30-31; II Timothy 3:16-17).
2. We believe there is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three separate but co-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1-2, 26-27; Deuteronomy 6:4; John 1:1-3, 14; and 4:24; Hebrews 1:1-8)
3. We believe Jesus Christ is both true God and true man. He died upon the cross for our sins, the Just for the unjust, as a substitutionary sacrifice, and all who believe in Him are justified on the basis of His shed blood. He rose from the dead in fulfillment of the Old Testament scriptures. He is now at the right hand of the Majesty on high as our great High Priest, and will come again to establish His kingdom of righteousness and peace. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18, 20-25; John 1:1; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:15-19; Hebrews 10:19-22)
4. We believe the Holy Spirit is the divine Person sent to indwell, guide, teach and empower every believer for ministry. He is also sent to convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. John 14:16, 17 and 26 and 16:8-15; Acts 1:8 and 4:29-31)
The Holy Spirit has endowed the Church with spiritual gifts for the purpose of building up each other with love in Christ. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are an important aspect of church life and are definite part of the spiritual inheritance of all true Christians. (Romans 12:5-8; I Corinthians 12:1-31 and 14:1-40; Ephesians 4:7-16)
5. We believe that humans are created in the image of God. They fell through disobedience, thereby incurring both physical and spiritual death. Therefore, all humans are born with a sinful nature and separation from the life of God. Humans can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who refuse to repent and believed in Christ will exist forever in conscious torment. This includes all people in every nation who never had the opportunity to hear the gospel preached and so be saved. We believed in the total depravity of humankind and the enabling grace of God through the preaching of the gospel. Those who do believe will have everlasting joy in the presence of God. (Genesis 1:26, 27 and 3:1-19; Psalm 14:1-3; Isaiah 53:6; Romans1:18-21)
6. We believe that salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ for all people. Those who repent and believe in Him are born-again of the Holy Spirit. They are made alive in Christ by grace. They receive the gift of eternal life and become the children of God. (Luke 19:10; John 1:12 and 3:3-7; Ephesians 2:5-8; 2 Peter 3:9)
It is Gods will that every believer be sanctified completely, which means to be separated from sin and the world. We are to be separated unto God. We are sanctified at our conversion, yet we are in the process of being sanctified. (Romans 12:1, 2; 1Thessalonians 5:23, 24)
7. We believe the Church has both universal and local expressions. The Church universal consists of all true Christians from every age, race and nation who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and have been redeemed through His blood and born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church, and has commissioned it to go to into the entire world as a witness, preaching the Gospel to all the nations. This is the Bride that Jesus Christ will present in all her glory, holy and blameless before God the Father. (Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 5:25-27; 2 Cor. 11:2; Revelation 19:5-9)
The local church is anybody of believers in a specific locality who are joined together by Christ, for the worship of God, edification through the Word of God, prayer, fellowship, the equipping of the saints for the work of service, the proclamation of the Gospel, ministry to one another and other through love and the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and observance of the ordinances of baptism and communion. (1 Corinthians 11:23-30; Ephesians 4:11-16; Hebrews 10:24-26; Acts 2:42; Matthew 28:19)
8. We believe in the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent, and will be personal, visible, and pre-millennial; this is the believer’s blessed hope. This is vital truth is both an incentive to holy living and to faithful service. (Matthew 24: 35-51; Acts 1:9-11; Revelation 22:7, 12, 20)
9. There will be the judgment for the just and the unjust. For the former there will be a resurrection to life and for the latter there will be a resurrection to judgment, leading to eternal punishment. (John 5:24-29; 1 Corinthians 15:12-28; Revelation 20:12-15)
10. We believe that civil government is ordained of God for the punishment of evil-doers and for the protection of the good (Romans 13:1-7); that is, it is our duty to pray for the rulers and those in authority ( 1Timothy 2:1-3 ), and to be submissive to their authority, except in things opposed to the will of God and our Lord Jesus Christ who is our only Lord of the conscience, and the coming Prince of the King of the earth. (Matt. 22:21; Acts 4:19; 5:29; 7:19, 20; 1 Peter 2:13-17).
